## Description

This simple to use brine shrimp hatchery is ideal for the hobbyist, science fair student, teacher, or aquarist who treats their fish to the occasional live treat. No aeration required! "Just wanted to send a quick note on how happy I am with your Brine Shrimp Hatchery Dish. The dish is performing as you stated and it works without a pump! I find the dish to be a perfect fit for my needs and very easy to use." J.L. Los Angeles We first saw this brine shrimp egg hatchery in Kowloon, Hong Kong and were instantly intrigued by its strange shape. With some misgivings about the functionality of the "breeding dish," I brought it home and tried it. I was amazed at the results in 24 hours! With absolutely no aeration, air tubing, or heat, my yields were as good as if I had used a more elaborate set-up. With a premeasured charge of about 0.4 grams of dry cysts, the Hatchery Dish yielded over 100,000 baby brine shrimp. A particularly nice feature of the shallow, dish-like shape of the Hatchery is the naturally occurring separation of the newly hatched nauplii (baby brine shrimp) from shells and unhatched egg - resulting in a very clean harvest. No additional siphoning or net is required. This is truly a great product for hobbyists! We have included a 1.75 ounce jar of Grade A brine shrimp eggs ( enough for about 90 uses).Instructional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyaeu32bB_Y&feature=youtu.be

Review: After more than a year of use, this is worth every penny - I have been using this quite regularly (about once or twice a week) for over a year now. I set it up on a counter where I have a small lamp I leave on all the time and aimed at the opening in the middle. I used to mix 25 grams of regular table salt (not coarse since that takes much longer to dissolve) with 1 liter of tap water for each set up but now I make a big batch of salt water in a jug with 100 grams of salt in 4 liters of water and store at room temp to use when refilling. No need to dechlorinate the water, no need to use baking soda, I use iodized or non-iodized salt, it doesn't seem to matter and no need to aerate the water. When it has dissolved and is at room temp, add to the container to the lower line, add a scoop of the shrimp eggs it came with (lasted a whole year but yield decreased over time so I added more eggs each time) along the outer ring, close it up and within a day I have lots of critters to feed my fish. The hatched eggs stay in the outer rings and the brine shrimp hatch and swim toward the light at the center to be scooped up. Lasts for about 3 days each time I use it. After that, I find there are fewer live brine shrimp and it starts to stink. I dump it out, clean it well with only hot water and paper towels and can start over. It is really easy to set up each time, my fish go crazy for the brine shrimp and is a great addition to a varied diet. It works out to be much cheaper than buying frozen brine shrimp. I initially hesitated because of the cost (beware they charge shipping too) but it turned out to be a great purchase and much easier than messing with the DIY or other aerated systems that take up so much more space. This is a very compact way of providing fresh brine shrimp for your fish in small quantities. My only complaint would be that the strainer in the middle that collects the shrimp gets clogged over time and becomes increasingly hard to clean. Would love if they provided 2 with the kit and offered the ability to buy them separately too.
Review: Great product! Better seller! - They went the extra mile to satisfy me. I’m back to buy another one so I can have brine shrimp everyday easily. The product works as shown. Extremely easy to setup, use and clean. It is not thin cheap plastic. It is thick and sturdy. It can actually take some real world use and abuse. Harvesting is a little different than the standard drain and strain, so there is not as many shrimp available at once. I now feed smaller amounts constant throughout the day. This is a much better way to feed, especially fry. The recommended amount of eggs to start with is one. I am now up to 4 scoops at once successfully hatching (@ 90% hatch rate) without any crash. Granted, this is my 4th hatching. It is enough to feed many tanks, over 8 at from this dish. BBS is no more than 50% of their diet. If you have 1 tank, then 1 scoop is probably more than enough for 100% of their diet. ThunderAquatics.us recommends to buy now! No affiliation to product or seller. Simply a customer.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do you of to use saltwater or freshwater to hatch the shrimp?**
A: You will use saltwater to hatch brine shrimp. You can use any type of non iodized salt ( kosher salt, sea salt, non iodized table salt); Aquarium salt is not required but can be used. The Dish holds approximately 1 liter of water. You will use 25 grams of salt per liter of water ) which is approximately 1 and 2/3 tablespoons depending on the granule size. (1.018 specific gravity if you have a hydrometer)

**Q: The instructions say to use 500ml of water, but it seems to need about 600ml to fill to the water line? I'm not missing anything, am I?**
A: no, you're fine, just add water to the lowest fill line. I think the 500ml is an approximate

**Q: How does it works? If it dosent uses aeriation?**
A: It does not use any aeriation...but good brine eggs I use San Francisco eggs 85 hatch rate

**Q: So the bbs swim to the collection cup which has a tab on it. how r the brine shrimp collected exactly? does the collection cup have a mesh bottom?**
A: It really is amazing in how easy the entire process is. Without any aeration or specific lighting, the BBS navigate the maze and windup in the collection cup, and yes the collection cup does have a mesh bottom. Simply lift it out and rinse the BBS into the tank for feeding. They will continue to hatch and find their way to the cup over the course of several hours, but with diminishing numbers. You will have to wipe everything down before reloading for the next batch, but even that is a very simple task. Enjoy!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This dish is easy to set up and really works
*by E***A on October 19, 2025*

This dish is very easy to set up, and really works. This is my second dish I got from this company, it comes with little pipette ( to collect the hatched shrimps) and small jar of brine shrimp eggs and if you follow the instructions, after 24 hours there is fresh food for your fishes. Also, small sample of dry flakes food was included, and my fishes like it too.
