Material is almost like a lightweight sweater material, so to me this is not a summer dress but rather a three-season dress to layer. (I could also see wearing it with a cardigan and pumps in the fall or spring, or with a turtleneck under it.) I am 5'7" and about 170 and normally wear a M-L in dresses. I ordered a size up, the L-XL, based on reviews, and I'm glad I did. It does run a bit small. The pockets as others have mentioned are a little odd because they are so deep, but that is perfect for me because as an itinerant teacher I need to carry my cell phone, pencils, stopwatch, keys etc, and hate losing things in the building!

It's got mid century modern vibes. I am 5' 9" and it is definitely short but not too short. The other aspect of this dress that I appreciate is that the arm holes come right under my arms.
