I need them to go over a 1" dia. bar** A: Hi, the "gate" only opens to 12 mm and the largest round bar that will fit through the carabiner is 23.5 mm. I suggest you purchase a 25 mm or larger/longer "d" shackle to go over your 1" bar then you can clip the carabiner to the shackle assuming the shackle is 12 mm or less. I'm using them to pull a 25kg motorhome awning through an awning rail and the wheels rotate perfectly well. I would suspect that the pulleys must be faulty if they fail to rotate with a fairly modest weight. My cable doesn't rub and doesn't get hot. **Q: how much stretch does the rope have?** A: Quite a lot but then stops.
