EarthMinded DIY Rain Barrel Diverter and Parts Kit (for 3 x 4 inch regular downspouts) is a state-of-the-art water collection system that allows you to convert any barrel or container into a rain barrel in minutes. A rain barrel can be located at any downspout around the home, garage or out-building to catch and store rainwater that can be used to water flowers, plants, lawns and landscaping, as well as for other outdoor chores. Rain barrels are an effective and environmentally friendly approach to water conservation and allow you to save water while reducing your water bill. Rain water does not contain additives commonly found in tap water, making for healthier plants and soil. The patented FlexiFit diverter installs easily by drilling a single hole into any standard 3” x 4” rectangular downspout. The diverter sends rainwater directly into the barrel. Once the barrel is full, the diverter will automatically pass excess water through the downspout. The kit includes a spigot designed for filling watering cans and a connection for a soaker hose. The following tools are required to install the kit: drill, level, measuring tape, screw driver, pencil or marker, scissors, safety glasses, safety gloves. This diverter offers advantages over conventional top fill rain barrels that commonly overfill and flood with heavy rain, requiring permanent modifications to your downspout. Review: Great kit, straightforward to implement - I'm somewhat handy, and I felt this was easy. If you've never DIY'd anything, my suggestion is to just have a friend come over to help or offer support. The kit works, and it works well. I've been able to eliminate the need to pull the house hose over to the garden, and am saving on my water bill. The faucets are indeed plastic, but they are well designed and easy to operate. I prefer them over the previous plastic faucets on my barrel (replaced them with these). Tip: When you cut the downspout, please wear safety goggles. I didn't at first, and then I started noticing all the metal flakes flying off from the cutter, so I stopped and put them on. You will need them!

**Q: How do you ensure that the water cming down the rainspout has been flushed of any impurities?**
A: The water WILL NOT be flushed if impurities. The is no way to do this. The water will contain any and everything from the granules that make up part of your shingles to tree debris to the droppings from birds or any other animals that may have gotten up there.

**Q: Will this work on a metal drum?**
A: Technically yes it will  The challenge for the average consumer is putting the correct size holes into a metal drum. The drillbits that come with it will in no way drill through a steel barrel

**Q: The diverter seems to create a restriction that is prone to catching debris. If this creates a clog on top of the diverter, how to clear it?**
A: Pull diverted out of down spout, as if it was winter time. Clear the debri ,reassemble.

**Q: How easy is it to remove it from the downspout when it eventually fills with debris (dirt, granules, etc.)?**
A: I just did this in prep for winter and it was very easy. Unscrewed the 2 screws, pulled out the spout and replace with the flat plug for the winter screwed both screws back in. Took less than 5 minutes.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good kit with one issue

This is a great rain water collection kit. It comes with all you need (except for the barrel of course) to start collecting rain water. The installation was pretty easy and straight forward. Make sure you have a decent drill, patience and sturdy hands, since the hole saws can be tricky. The reason why I am giving this kit 4 stars is the faucet that comes with this kit. In a few words - it is really bad. There are a few things wrong with it: 1. The fact that it's made of plastic, 2. The two molded halves of the faucet are not properly aligned making the halves of the tread kinda shifted, 3. The way this faucet connects to the barrel. They provide a rubber gasket that you're supposed to push into the drilled hole and then you screw the faucet into that gasket. There is really no stopping point to screw in the faucet. It is so lose inside of that gasket that it just keeps turning as long as you apply a bit of force to it. So, my expectations of the faucet were correct - it started leaking from the gasket in at the point where it connects to the barrel. I will be buying a proper brass faucet and tightening it with a wrench to make sure there are no leaks.
