Review: Quick Growth! - My yard was completely bare and I was looking for the easy approach! I’ve seen that clover require less water, sunlight, and maintenance. Which makes it the perfect option for me. The clover seeds grow within 4-6 days! See the growth differences in the before and after pics! It only took 2-3 months! I’m so glad this clover seed turned my yard back to life
Review: Good quality clover - This is a good seed bag for clover, however I was unaware that there’s not just white Dutch clover in this bag which is my fault but for anyone else; this has a handful of other plant species in here. I can’t tell if a lot of the weeds in this mix are solely from the mix or from weeds in properties around mine but I’ve been doing a lot of weeding to the planted patch. A couple notes on this species of clover; it LOVES water. That’s how you’ll get seeds to sprout and grow quickly. I can’t tell yet how drought hardy it’ll be but it for sure isn’t a fan of full day sun exposure. Where the bare spot is gets sun all day long and we’ve had days over 100 quite a bit. The clover is still growing but it’s very patchy and slow growing in those spaces. The fully planted space was planted a couple weeks before the more bare space but you can tell all the growth along the edge of the more bare patch is what’s growing best regardless with the higher amount of shade. So IMO nothing wrong with the quality of this seed mix, but know this does best with at least partial shade and there are other seeds in here that aren’t clover. I’ve included the most prevalent plant of it sprouting right with the clover as well as how it looks mature and amongst the clover. A good addition I think because it’s very tolerant of traffic. The clover itself is okay to be walked on, it’ll bounce back up and not die but it is delicate and could be torn up a lot from anything over a calm walk. I’d suggest stepping stones for frequently used paths and probably not the best for kids or pets running around.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why do recent reviewers here seem to be having trouble with this product? Has something changed regarding the supplier?**
A: The supplier is not Outside Pride but rather some group called Seedfans. My shipment came from Singapore with a false customs declaration stating it was jewelry apparently to avoid USDA import regulations. I have dealt with Outside Pride directly in the past and they are an American Company with fine products and good service. I contacted them when I could not get a response from Amazon other than their "boilerplate" response about returns and satisfaction but was instead referred to their legal department. Outside Pride says that this is an ongoing problem that Amazon refuses to address. Buy directly from Outside Pride.

**Q: I need to sow 10 lbs of this White Dutch Clover seed over an acre, and I only have an old small Scotts spreader. How do I do this?**
A: I suppose it would help to know your purpose. Yes, the seed is mighty small and a Scotts spreader might not do the job uniformly. I first considered that my investment in seed was only $35 and second, chose to see what the fertilized seed could do. After a rain, I sowed 10 # over .5 acre. I sowed by hand. In a week, the sprouts were coming up everywhere. I would say that every seed sprouted and as the months went by the sprouts are multiplying and spreading. It took an hour or so. I could probably do this again next spring on another half-acre. My object was to overcome the Bermuda and reduce the effort or much of the need to mow grass. I'm sure there may be a fancier way but I started with simple.

**Q: Is the coating/innoculation ok in a vegetable garden? I want a clover temporary cover to plow under later. I grow mostly chemical free produce.**
A: Dear LV. I'm no clover expert but I bought inoculated seed (10#) which help the bacteria encourage growth and the coating of fertilizer jump-starts the seed growth without worrying about keeping the seeds wet. My goal was to replace grass that I mow with clover that doesn't need this care. What clover I have needs no chemicals or fertilizers. From that I would encourage clover for your garden.

**Q: Will Dutch clover grow in sandy soil**
A: I don't know but it is growing well here in difficult soil. Give it a try.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent germination rate
*by A***A on May 17, 2011*

I am very pleased with the germination rate of the clover I received in this order. I will be posting photos with the progress of my clover lawn. Photo #1: 5 lb bag of clover seeds Photo #2: clover lawn after 5 days Photo #3: clover lawn after 15 days Photo #4 & #5: clover after 23 days, clover after 23 days close-up Photo #5 clover after 30 days Photo #6 clover after 45 days -> appearance of flowers, this is my final photo I have a lot of lawn and due to back problems limited ability to care for it as well as I should to keep it nice and green. Following a construction project late last fall a large area of my lawn became a patch of clay. After reading about eco lawns I decided to try to reseed the bold patch with clover rather than grass. I selected white Dutch clover because it is low growing (it reaches 4 inches when it matures) and was rated well for the North East region where I live. I liked that Clover is a perennial and will propagate on its own. I like that Clover helps grass grow. Nitrogen-fixing bacteria that form nodules on the roots of the clover fix nitrogen from the air and increases the nitrogen in the lawn helping the grass to grow. What was important to me that clover grows vigorously even in poor soil, which is exactly what I have. I read that the ideal time to plant is mid-April before grass starts growing quickly and provides competition for water. It can be planted later in the season as well, by then watering frequently becomes crucial for clover lawn establishment. I planted my clover in the third week of April, seeding some over the new grass that just started growing, some in the clay left by the construction, and some over patches that had dead grass. Some information I found indicates that you need both clover AND grass to make a "clover lawn" as they are complementary in their ecological functioning and one supports the other. By planting my clover in several ways I will be able to see if I also need to add grass seed to the clover lawn. The instructions said not to spread them by hand, so I came up with the following solution. I used a large spice bottle (the kind you get at Costco) and opened the side with the round holes and used it as a shaker to spread the seeds. I watered daily (if there was no rain). The instructions said you only need to do it for 7 to 10 days, but I am still watering to insure good growth. I will continue to update this review with new photos to there is a record of growth. Update 8/8/11 One section of my lawn which included clover is mowed regularly once a week. The clover did not survive many weeks of mowing. It came back a couple of times, but eventually died out completely. A section that has not been mowed still has healthy looking clover. Update 10/17/11 In the fall the regular mowing ended and I am happy to report that the clover came back in the section which was regularly mowed and where it stopped growing during the summer!
