Another feature I really like is that if it sits idle for too long (haven't timed it to know specifically how long, but definitely enough time), it will turn off automatically. Sometimes I'll pause a movie and go change laundry or make dinner and I'll forget I had it on. Being an eco-conscious individual (though apparently not when I leave my tv on and walk away), I appreciate the back-up support of the automatic turn off :) All in all, I'm happy with the product and I'd recommend it to others looking for a basic dvd player. UPDATE DECEMBER 2018: Two things: first, I purchased a second one for my airbnb (@honeoyebungalow) in January 2017 and that has also been working really well. To comment further on the memory note above - if a disc is left in, it recalls where you left off. If you switch discs and then go back to one, it will not recall where you left off. Is this required for operation?** A: It is a TV connector. If your TV has the RED/White/Yellow plus, the you can connect with that. The HDMI cable gives HI def for the 1080flat screen TVs. **Q: Is there a remote with this?** A: Sure does. **Q: Do i need c2g/ cable or hdmi???** A: HDMI Cable, but buy the Sony instead. This player was defective when I got it, cutting in and out on sound. Too much trouble to return. **Q: I just want to play DVD-RW's I burned. I have an older TV with the 3 cable connection. No need for scanning. Will this one still work for what I want?** A: That is what I purchased this Panasonic. I am thinking of finding something else. What I did not know was that this has no lights to indicate if the disc is playing, and it has no digital numerical readout to indicate song time and number. Also, it will not play certain discs that I have made a label with my disc labeler...the paper makes the disc too thick and it freaks out. I have to say it has a good sound.
