It really is made of metal end to end. The only exceptions are the inner lining that allows for a window on each side of the basic the coffee filters down into, and the nub on the handle. Strong and simply does not break - good, cuz I drop these a lot. Previous plastic mill was constantly dropped.2 recommended improvements:1) It is VERY difficult to separate when it arrives. It might be better for it to arrive pre-separated. It sure felt like a machine had put these 2 parts together and I honestly had to use home maintenance tools to pry them apart. They have worked perfectly since, sliding in and out of each other no problem, but that first separation... I was about to return the thing when I noticed it budged a half millimeter.2) It would be nice if there was a gear or something I could adjust so that I can use more pressure, fewer turns, to get the same amount of grinding. Like gears on a bike.
