The cut and ruching were extremely flattering, even on my "mom bod," and the velvet had a nice weight to it. Unfortunately, the dark blue velvet looked almost black in person--too dark for my needs. Also, the XL was too large for me, but that was my fault for not being brave enough to order it in my true size (L). (I'm not used to wearing such fitted dresses and thought that I would be more comfortable sizing up. Order your regular size!) Finally, the slit is a little too high for a formal event like a wedding. I will keep this dress in mind if I ever want a full-length gown for a sexy date night.
