I'm speaking of course of Haruhi, Mikuru, Yuki, and Itsuki respectively. Out of all the stories in this light novel, I enjoyed "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" and "Remote Island Syndrome" the best. "Rhapsody" explains why Haruhi thought she'd met Kyon before, and that's all I will say about the plot itself. I thought that this story was one of the more interesting ones out of all the light novels so far. "Syndrome" is one of my favorites because of the setting. A secluded island with only a few people on it...sounds heavenly. However, a sudden hurricane flares up and the SOS Brigade finds themselves in the midst of a murder-mystery! In all honesty, the reason I love reading these books is because of Kyon. His sense of humor and his observations about his world are hysterical and yet right on the money. He's my favorite character in the anime series and the light novels. I also like Yuki, just because I think there's a lot more going on with her than she lets on. Anyway, I highly reccomend this and the other light novels! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The book inbetween those before it. *by B***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 29, 2011* Though "The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya" is technically "The Sigh"'s sequel, it is in fact a collection of short stories that take place in between the first two books.A quick summary: the first self-titled short story follows the SOS Brigade as Haruhi decides to enroll the club in the city's baseball tournament, much to Kyon's chagrin. The second story, "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" is about Kyon and Mikuru's journey back in time where Kyon is destined to meet Haruhi for the first time. The third short story (and the shortest) titled "Mysterique Sign" is a tale very reminiscent of many "X-files" episodes, and a funny and odd tale despite it's brief length. In the fourth and longest story in the book, "Remote Island Syndrome", Haruhi and crew get stranded on an island during their vacation and unwittingly become participants in and murder-mystery with a surprising ending.Though it is one of weaker books in the series, it was fun to read through and filled in the time between The Melancholy and The Sigh. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The story inbetween... *by M***O on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 2, 2010* The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya is set between The Melancholy and The Sigh. If you have seen the anime or have the manga than some of this is familiar to you. Baseball, data life form, time travel, and a murder mystery! In other words, four short stories, good for a bus ride or for that hour before you have to go to bed.Enjoy! --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/6194957-the-boredom-of-haruhi-suzumiya-light-novel-volume-3-haruhi](https://www.desertcart.us/products/6194957-the-boredom-of-haruhi-suzumiya-light-novel-volume-3-haruhi) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
