I finally caved and bought this 7lb capacity dual barrel to expand my operation and felt compelled to write a review as it's been about a month since this bad boy arrived on my doorstep. PROS: 1. NOISE DAMPENING Unlike every other tumbler on the market that purports to be "quiet", this is genuinely the first tumbler I've ever used that not only runs quietly by default *without* the plastic lid covering, but also provides a lid for additional noise dampening that genuinely works. The noise generated by rock tumblers comes from two sources: the motor, and the rocks themselves tumbling against each other. This tumbler addresses both arenas by utilizing a powerful but quiet motor, and barrels that are thicker than your average tumbler. Combined with the noise dampening lid cover, this is by far the most quiet and unobtrusive tumbler on the market. You could easily run it in your bedroom and not be disturbed by the noise. 2. CAPACITY This is a 7lb *combined* capacity set, meaning each barrel has a 3.5lb capacity. I mention this because in the past I have ordered tumblers that claim to have 3.5lb capacities but in practice fit half the amount of rocks as one of the barrels on the Koolstone C1. I appreciate honest marketing, and want to support brands that are candid with their customers. 3. DESIGN This appears to be a very well made tumbler from top to bottom. The motor, housing, barrels, and control pad are all expertly designed. Even the interior and exterior lids and ergonomic twist tops are an improvement from the industry standard black wheel style twist tops, which can be hard on the hands and difficult to grip, especially while wearing gloves. Despite being a dual 7lb barrel, it appears intentionally designed to take up as little space as possible, which is an intuitively consumer focused design that is rare these days. I also appreciate the aesthetic option to choose between orange and blue. 4. MOTOR Tto continuously rotate a 7lb dual barrel, you're going to need a real workhorse of a motor inside the housing. Often, brands cheap out by using a standard motor, which fails to effectively reach the higher speeds. Or, they use a powerful motor that sacrifices sound quality for power output. I'm genuinely impressed by the quality of the motor and its ability to run at all speeds while remaining QUIET. CONS: 1. Not really a con so much as wishful thinking, but I do wish there was an option to set different timers or speeds for each barrel. Unfortunately this would require 2 internal motors, which would likely sacrifice the other benefits (sleek frame, quiet motor, etc). I honestly had to reach a bit for a con on this machine but I try to give thorough, fully weighted reviews SUMMARY: This is by far the best, and the QUIETEST of any tumbler I've used to date. It is well worth the money and I highly recommend! Review: Good value, works great, quiet, durable. Great anniversary gift lol - Its actually really quiet by far the quietest tumbler I've ever been around. My wife loves it. Been running it 24/7 for at least 30 days. The rubber drums that hold the rocks and media with water are very easy to open and close and are nice and leakproof. Haven't had a single drop leak out. And works good too. Holds a good amount in each one of the 2 drums. Together with my wife we have had fun opening it up and cleaning between stages to see the progress. The entire device seems nice and durable the drums especially are tough. Super easy to use. Great value compared to others we looked at. And has 4 rubber feet to help reduce vibration making it nice and stable. ## Features - KoolStone Rock Tumblers for Every Level: Choose from our versatile lineup: the C1 and C1 Pro (2.5 lb capacity; Pro features a brushless motor for quieter, more efficient operation), the C1 Pro Max (3 lb capacity with noise-reducing cover), and the C1 Pro Ultra (dual barrel, 7 lb capacity, brushless motor, and noise-reducing cover). Each tumbler is designed to deliver consistent, high-quality results for both beginners and experienced rock collectors. - All-in-One Tumbling Solution: This complete 10 lb grit kit includes everything needed for a full 4-step rock tumbling process. Each set contains 2 lb of Step 1 (60-grit coarse silicon carbide), 2 lb of Step 2 (150-grit medium silicon carbide), 1.5 lb of Step 3 (600-grit fine silicon carbide), 1.5 lb of Step 4 (1200-grit aluminum oxide polish), and 2 lb of ceramic tumbling media & 1 lb of plastic pellet tumbling media for optimal barrel balance and smooth tumbling action. - Professional-Grade Results for Every Level: Designed to deliver consistent, high-quality finishes from rough shaping to final polishing. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced lapidarist, this kit ensures a flawless transition through each stage for glossy, professional-grade stones. - High Efficiency – Polish up to 70 lbs of Rocks: Each set provides enough grit and media to process up to 70 lbs of stones across multiple batches. Add just enough water to cover the stones inside the barrel and tumble for 7–10 days per step, checking periodically and adding water if needed to maintain smooth rotation. Adjust tumbling time slightly depending on stone hardness and size. - Compatible with All Rock Tumblers: Suitable for both rotary and vibratory tumblers. Perfect for hobbyists, classrooms, and professional workshops alike—KoolStone grit kits are engineered to help you transform rough rocks into smooth, glass-like gems with ease and precision. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0CRTYVZRT | | Best Sellers Rank | #27,415 in Industrial & Scientific ( See Top 100 in Industrial & Scientific ) #29 in Tumbling Media | | Brand | KoolStone | | Brand Name | KoolStone | | Compatible Material | Aluminum, Plastic | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 out of 5 stars 207 Reviews | | Grit Material | Ceramic | | Grit Material Type | Ceramic | | Grit Number | 60 | | Grit Type | Coarse , Fine , Medium | | Manufacturer | KoolStone | | Material | Ceramic Tumbling Media (2LBS), Plastic Pellet Tumbling Media (1LB), Silicon Carbide, Step #3 Pre-Polish 600 Fine Silicone Carbide (1.5LBS), Step #4 1200 Aluminum Oxide Final Polish Grit (1.5LBS) Material Ceramic Tumbling Media (2LBS), Plastic Pellet Tumbling Media (1LB), Silicon Carbide, Step #3 Pre-Polish 600 Fine Silicone Carbide (1.5LBS), Step #4 1200 Aluminum Oxide Final Polish Grit (1.5LBS) See more | | Material Type | Ceramic Tumbling Media (2LBS), Plastic Pellet Tumbling Media (1LB), Silicon Carbide, Step #3 Pre-Polish 600 Fine Silicone Carbide (1.5LBS), Step #4 1200 Aluminum Oxide Final Polish Grit (1.5LBS) | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Part Number | DCGRITKIT | | Set Name | 10 lb Rock Tumbler Grit Kit | | Unit Count | 160 Ounce | ## Product Details - **Brand:** KoolStone - **Grit Material:** Ceramic - **Grit Number:** 60 - **Grit Type:** Coarse, Fine, Medium ## Images ![Rock Tumbler Grit and Tumbling Media Kit 10 Pounds, 4-Step Polish Refill with Ceramic & Plastic Pellets, Polish Up to 70 lbs of Rocks, Compatible with National Geographic, KoolStone & All Rock Tumbler - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71rJsjVwMLL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strong & Silent Type--workhorse motor that runs in near silence *by B***A on June 19, 2026* I've been tumbling rocks for a while now and have used several different brands over the years (Nat Geo, and 2 other generic Amazon brands).
