Review: Another great book from Katy Bowman - If you’ve read Katy’s books and wish that you could somehow get a personalized recommendation from her for your specific body, this is the book for you! Katy assists you in analyzing your movement challenges, but also in finding the deepest “why” of your motivation to move more and better. She ties your movement with how it sparks joy to you personally, which is an amazing approach that I have not encountered elsewhere. Most movement/exercise books just assume that the exercise work is self-fulfilling, but I love that Katy asks why do you want to move better? She gives examples from her experience of the happiness she feels from swimming in natural waters, or being strong enough to carry her baby on a walk, things that some of us may take for granted but others will find very difficult. This is an actionable book that I highly recommend.
Review: This book shows you how to build the perfect plan for YOU - I have a lot of Katy's books, but this is the first one that literally shows you and helps you create an activity and lifestyle plan just for YOU. This book is filled with information on the hows and whys certain movements and aspects of lifestyle help or hinder your health, so it's good reading. But, it's also full of questionnaires, charts, worksheets, and activity logs that will help you create the perfect plan for yourself. I do recommend the paperback if at all possible, because you're going to want to write in this book! This is not one of those books that gives you a one-size-fit-all solution — Everyone who goes through this book will come out better for it, by doing the things that are right for THEM.
