My ankle surgery kind of failed and I don’t blame anyone for it, as I have a known condition, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which causes a lot of surgeries not to have the best outcomes. But I deal with that however I can and in this case finding an ankle brace to support my needs is the best way to do so. This brace is fabulous, as long you buy the correct size. I had previously bought the same brace for my right side and the only size available at the time was an extra large, which is still way too big (it’s actually even bigger than it was when I received it because weight loss affects every body part). It definitely doesn’t work as intended unless you have the correct size. But that’s easy enough to choose. I am able to use the brace with or without shoes and it prevents the tendons on the outside of my ankle from popping out of place, which is the main problem I have had since my surgery. This brace works better for me than the custom made Richie style brace I have, which only works if you are wearing shoes with it. I need something that works when I’m too lazy to wear shoes or just want to walk around barefoot. And this is the overall winner thus far. I try out a lot of braces before settling on something normally, so that’s saying a lot. This brace is bulkier than my custom made brace, but it’s also far more comfortable against my sensitive fibula, which I believe has an anchor in it from my surgery.Aircast always seems to be the best solution for my bracing needs, whatever body part requires it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ankle support braces *by on Reviewed in the United States July 23, 2026* Love these support braces. I’ve needed and worn ankle braces for 4 years. I was unable to continue to get the braces from my foot doctor. I found these and they are better, more comfortable and fit in my shoes better than previously used braces. I’m happy ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Costs less & same support! *by on Reviewed in the United States March 27, 2021* My husband bought the regular Aircast (not with AirSport) and it’s like a miracle - exactly what the doctor ordered but less expensive than in his office. When I bought the Aircast, I saw the Aircast AirSport and decided to order it too - less expensive than the one without AirSport. The AirSport has extra thicker padding but it works the same, gives same comfort, relieved pain & adds stability as the first and fits the same as the one without the “air pads”.. The only negative is that the AirSport is slightly harder to get on — but hubby says it’s not a deal breaker! I’m glad we have both. One can be cleaned & air drying and he has one to wear. He’s pleased with both. My husband (age 75) has serious damage to his left ankle - bone spurs and arthritis damage. His ankle is very large. Both offer support & Aircast is doctor recommended.Like the regular Aircast, he can wear the AirSport for 8-10 hours with comfort. Hand wash and he uses Oxyclean.
