### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Returned my Apple Watch for the Fitbit Versa, here's why
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 30 May 2018*

I purchased an Apple Watch because I've got an iPhone (I'll probably change soon but right now, I have an iPhone). I figured it made the most sense. I'm not reviewing the Apple Watch here but here are the facts: the Apple Watch doesn't have an online dashboard to view/analyse your results/runs/heart/sleep - Fitbit does. In fact, the Apple Watch doesn't even have a built in sleep monitoring function (yes, 3rd party apps exist, but that's besides the point), you have to charge the Apple Watch around once every day, or second day if lucky. The Fitbit versa? 3-4 days between a charge, and it has built in sleep tracking. It's extraordinarily hard to dislike the Fitbit versa. It doesn't set out to be a smartwatch, although it does have smartwatch features e.g it'll vibrate/notify you of an incoming SMS/iMessage. But if you're like me, and go walking, running, do martial arts, or swim, then you'll seriously want to consider the Fitbit. The heart rate monitoring is continuous, unlike the Apple Watch which only monitors once every 10 minutes. This means you'll get much more accurate, actionable data. Connected GPS works like a dream - and saves battery power. How does it work? You simply swipe over to 'exercise' and tap it, then select the activity you want to do e.g run, and then hit the gear icon in the top left of the watch. A small menu pops up and if you scroll down, it allows you to use 'connected GPS'. Simply clicking the left button on the Fitbit Versa takes you back, then you start your walk/run. It's much easier than I make it sound. Why people complain about connected GPS I'll never know. It saves a tonne of battery power. When I used GPS on alternative watches (Microsoft Band, Apple Watch etc), it would drain the battery. The Versa holds up well in that department. I usually go on 3x 20-30 minute dog walks per day and I lose maybe 5% - then when I get home, simply sync the Fitbit app and you can instantly see a map of your walk on your phone. If you want to, you can log into Fitbit's online dashboard and see the map of your walk there. Additional information includes heart rate during walk along with further information such as pace, calories, elevation and impact on your day in terms of how many steps you took on your walk vs how many steps you intended to do that day.A bit more on battery life: I charged my fitbit on 29th May at 2pm to 100%. It's currently on 52% battery (31st May) after: 101 minutes of exercise on 29th, including 7 GPS walks, each around 20-30 mins each, and 6 workouts.... and 2 nights sleep tracking, 2x alarms and notifications when I get texts.....insane battery life! The product feels pretty good quality and so far, I've enjoyed every second of it. The home screen 'face' that comes as standard allows you to tap and it'll show you heart rate BPM, steps and calories, or you can go onto the Fitbit app and choose from hundreds of watch faces. In short: this is a watch for fitness people. This isn't a smartwatch per se, it's not a gimmick.Overall, it has great battery life, great fitness features, great online dashboard, water resistant to 50m and a fantastic app to go along with it. Easily worth the money and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Have had the Apple Watch and Garmin Fenix 3 - here's why Fitbit won me over.
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 5 July 2018*

It all started when I was given a fitbit charge 2 from my work in April '17. At the time I had a Fenix 3 which I loved, but really admittedly I was not probably their typical target audience outdoorsy type triathlete who hikes a hundred miles every weekend and cycles 20 miles to work. No. I didnt do much at all. But I did love that it was a good looking smart watch. Before that I had an Apple watch, which didnt last long because charging another device EVERY day is just torture. So I gladly received the Fitbit and thought what the heck I will give it a try. For a couple weeks I wore it alongside my Garmin. The Fitbit sleep tracking and app were immediately a long way ahead of anything else I had tried. The App is very slick and really easy to use. Garmin's on the other hand must have been designed and built by a developer - not a user. By turning off notifications and auto wake to the display, you can get just over a week out of it too. (Ok the Garmin won there with about 2 weeks)Here's the clincher though. The interactive and social element of the Fitbit app had my colleagues around the world participating in step challenges, and who knew, I am quite competitive so things got quite heated and we all found ourselves doing things like going for long walks just before midnight to get an edge on colleagues. Soon I had friends joining too, and not long after that I joined the gym and started running on a treadmill 2 to 3 times a week. That was just over a year ago and I have stuck at it. Having now lost quite a bit of weight and I have honestly never felt better. The weekly step challenges havent stopped and nor has the satisfaction of occasionally winning them.So for me, this was the next step. Buying one which does a bit more, and arguably looks a bit better. I still think they could look better (the Garmin was a very handsome watch - but a bit too heavy and on the big side), and maybe one day they'll release something a bit more masculine.I am very very happy with this Versa. It does more than I expected (or need) and I really love that it has the customisable faces and includes all the things I found useful and loved about my Charge 2. I went for the special edition as I like the idea of a cloth strap. Sleeping with the Charge 2's rather grippy rubber strap wasn't the best and this watch is very comfortable to wear sleeping.I have read some reviews that claim it is light and feels cheap because it's very light - I disagree and would count the light weight as a pro because it is essentially a device some owners never take off, so like a well made pair of sunglasses - you almost dont want to know you are wearing it! And it does do just that.I've only had it a short time and I was a bit concerned about the 4 day battery life, but I have squeezed a week out of mine by immediately turning off notifications and auto wake for the display, plus I tend not to muck around with all the many other features I am sure most people will use and love- for me those are gimmicks and notifications were novel on my first Apple watch - but then just a distraction and can be invasive. One gimmick I do like (more as a novelty) is being able to control my Phillips Hue lighting from the watch, my inner 10 year old boy loves that kind of thing.Hope this helps you make the decision to buy one, I personally cant recommend Fitbit enough. I almost owe them my health in a way.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best fitbit - period!
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 March 2019*

Firstly let me say that I am a former fitbit charge hr, Fitbit charge 2, Fitbit blaze and fitbit ionic owner. I chose to get rid of my fitbit ionic in place of my fitbit versa and i can confirm that I made the right decision. My review will focus on the bare essentials of this device and my opinion of them.DesignThe design of the versa is beautiful. I opted for the lavender version which gave me a rose gold brush on the metal of the casing. The softened edges aid in the overall aesthetic of the watch, making it slightly resemble an apple watch. I'm using a 3rd party strap but I can say for the woven strap that comes with the special edition, it looks awesome - it's not something I'd recommend for sports but if you're after a stylish accessory to a smart-casual outfit or even just smart, this will fit the bill perfectly. There are almost an unlimited number of watch faces to chose from due to developers being allowed to create and share their own designs. As such, you're not limited to a select few. I change my design up every now and then and I appreciate the number if designs on offer.PerformancePerformance is as expected for a premium fitbit device. It performs flawlessly under any circumstances. I've never seen the interface lag or freeze and there is a very satisfactory amount of fluidity for this device.BatteryTo charge this device, there is a proprietary charger which is arguably one of the easiest to use. On a full charge, I get about a week. I use this quite a lot for exercise so being able to get this kind of battery life is great. Charging takes around an hour from 0-100.HRHR is brilliant as always from a fitbit. Unlike the blaze and actually the ionic, where it sometimes got confused with my heart rate, the versa is great at identifying my heart rate and giving me real time knowledge. Sleep tracking is just as good as before, being able to distinguish awake, light, deep or REM stages of sleep.PriceThe price is high but for the price, you are getting a gread deal for the price. You have the most recent interface and software and a design that screams 2019. It's performance is the best a fitbit has ever been and the battery life is enviable from other brands. I wholeheartedly recommend this fitbit for anyone and believe its worth the investment.
