I've been wearing it nearly every day for 3 months now and it looks as good as the day it was new. I'm no jeweler but the color and luster look like real gold plating to me. I put a very small exquisite anodized titanium handled folding knife on it. I strung a small spring clasp on the chain and snapped the knife onto the clasp so I can take it off if I need to use the knife. The only problem I've had is the chain has a lobster clasp on one end and a ring on the other. That ring was too big to fit through my knife clip so I had to take it off. The lobster clasp doesn't really fit in the other end of the chain without the ring so I had to drill out the hole but it's still tight. Took off one star for that.
