The blade springs open quite nicely and locks VERY securely in place, yet closes with an easy push of the locking lever. It took me a little time getting used to the clip orientation in relation to the flipper tab, since it's opposite of my previous knife, but that's simply a design difference. The pivot at the flipper would get in the way of the screws for the clip if you tried to design it differently, which limits the ability to flip the orientation vertically (flipper up vs down in your pocket). That said, the scales could be redesigned so the clip could be flipped to the opposite scale, but on the same end of the knife. This would allow you to change pockets but keep the flipper orientation the same (front or back).
