Review: Great way to mix "natural" peanut butter! - After mixing countless jars of natural peanut butter with a knife and making a mess, and also finding a glob of unmixed PB on the bottom (usually near the center) nearing the end of the jar, I started looking for a better way. There are quite a number of "gadgets" available - variations of squiggly, bent pieces of steel or aluminum that you twist around in the jar then scrape off. After watching user videos, I have to say those didn't impress at all. Looking for mixing/stirring tools, found this. Here's the technique that I've found works GREAT! Step 1: Store the PB UPSIDE DOWN in your pantry for at least a couple of days. This starts the oil component working its way to the BOTTOM of the jar (at the store, it's on the top, of course, as we all know). If you left it long enough, the oil layer would eventually end up entirely at the bottom (again, upside down) but during typical storage it's now starting, on its own, to do a lot of the work! Step 2: Before opening, SHAKE WELL. Step 3: Open the jar. Step 4: Apply this tool, the Zyliss Angled Mixing Spoon. Stir well. The handle is VERY sturdy - NO bending at all and it's very comfortable in the hand (it's round, and a nice size to grip). The shape of the tool head (also very firm, doesn't bend under the force of the thick PB) fits well into the corners of the jar and along the bottom. The hole in the head allows the soft PB to mix better than a spoon. Mix until you're happy with it - for a 1 lb jar it takes me about 2 minutes max. Step 5: as you bring the stirrer out of the jar, I use a small silicone spoon/spatula to scrape the stirrer clean. Done! Best way I've found to do the job - no mess and thorough mixing. The stirrer is easy to clean - manually or rinse and toss into the dishwasher. Enjoy!
