Admittedly I'll say I'm still in the tester phase and not fully decided, but if nothing else I think I'll still keep it for my hands, because it makes them look about 5 years younger. I wasn't grandfathered in to this brand either, I never got to try the old formula, so I have no frame of reference to necessarily say the new formula is better or worse than the old. But I can at least say, you guys, I have the most sensitive skin known to man. It's so dry, and so angry, and won't be soothed by anything. It hates hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, feverfew. It hates rice water. It even hates some aloe products depending on what other ingredients they're filled with. Just about everything I've bought in the last year has irritated my skin and had to be returned. I am SO salty about it. I was worried about the terribly bad press on the new formula for this product because of how stupid my skin is. I thought if other people said their face was peeling or breaking out into angry cystic pimples from the new formula then surely that would happen to me too. But I'd already ordered it before I read all that stuff on the web. So I was like, ok, well...I'll give it a shot. Despite the bad press I did see some reviews that said from old to new formula they saw no difference so that gave me a little hope? So far it hasn't broken me out (nothing beyond my usual few pimples each morning that would have shown up anyway). It also doesn't make me red!! My face leans heavily HEAVILY into rosacia and anytime something makes my skin angry I just turn into a beet. I was red from my exfoliation routine before applying the belif cream for the first time, but this stuff actually calmed my skin down, like...what?!? Nothing has ever done that for me before (not even aveeno cream, which I was allergic to lol). I can confirm it takes a few minutes to soak in, but once it's soaked in it doesn't look oily and it doesn't make my face feel tight or any of the other concerns I saw about the new formula. My face just feels...normal, which is new to me because it hasn't been normal in forever. SO. Everyone's skin is different, but I think the new formula is worth a try. It's possible more people are allergic to a new ingredient, but I really wonder if maybe some of the new reactions are related to how this cream interacts with other products in people's care regimen. I know from experience that locking too much hydration against the skin will cause angry, cystic breakouts. And since the new formula is supposed to be more hydrating than the old (maintaining moisture barrier for 48hrs vs the old 24), maybe it doesn't play nice with additional hydration products like toners, etc. When I've used it I honestly can't imagine putting anything else hydrating on my face underneath or on top of it. It does the job so well that I know if I put my aloe water on underneath it we'd be having problems. So if you're unsure about the new formula I'd recommend giving it the cleanest possible test and using it as the only part of your face moisture regimen first (after testing it on your hands to see how it feels on tougher skin). If it treats your face well on a clean test, but then breaks you out when you start combining it with other products, you'll know where the issue is coming from.
