Just enough to illuminate the numbers. They give you plenty. Just pop them in place. It's plastic, but is fairly sturdy. Once you get the stakes into the ground, they won't move. For us in the desert with high winds and storms, this is a plus. But alas, the rechargeable battery is useless. Mine didn't even last a week. The battery compartment is easy to access. Just change out the battery for a real one. It'll last 3 to 4 weeks. If you have little light or want people to see your house numbers at night, this is a good addition to any other lighting you may have. I have solar lights along the sides of my house and two in the front yard. This is perfect. Nice to look at too. Would I recommend? Sure. Just be sure to have a good supply of batteries. The solar ones aren't worthy.

This was a replacement for a cheaper one that broke. It's larger with an easy-to-read face and when charged, emits a nice amount of light. Just enough to illuminate the numbers. They give you plenty. Just pop them in place. It's plastic, but is fairly sturdy. Once you get the stakes into the ground, they won't move. For us in the desert with high winds and storms, this is a plus. But alas, the rechargeable battery is useless. Mine didn't even last a week. The battery compartment is easy to access. Just change out the battery for a real one. It'll last 3 to 4 weeks.
