The dimensions given were helpful; it connects about 10" from each side of the corner you put it in, so consider doors and other obstructions that might make it impossible to mount. I was lucky that it barely fit inside the door. As other reviewers mentioned, the washers aren't big enough for large parrot cages where the bars are typically an inch or so apart. I just used the larger washers off of old perches I was getting rid of, but washers are less than a dollar at the hardware store, too.
