Review: A good replacement option, but FMS is more durable. - We all know the factory clips that come on the Dewalt Miter saw stand brackets are brittle and highly susceptible to breaking. Many replacement options have come out to edit the mounting brackets with a more robust retaining clip. The ones from FMS are probably the most well known and naturally, the bar for comparing other replacement options, which is why I'm comparing these yellow ones from Cawla to the FMS ones (pictured here in green). Firstly the most notable difference is that these are hollow, whereas the FMS ones are solid. Although hollow, they are supported by a grid that lends a bunch of support and stability to the structure of these. These are molded instead of 3D printed. Like other replacement clips, these do require you to retain and use the hardware and spring that comes with the original bracket. These work with the notched Dewalt spring as well as the replacement springs available from FMS. Although these are not as robust as some other replacement options, they are certainly much more durable and more pleasant to use than the factory clips and they are offered at a pretty competitive price. Review: Will work but not as good as OE - I installed these clips on the mounting brackets for my DeWalt DWX723 miter saw stand. Note that these are the rear clips of the bracket. They are a bit sloppy, compared to the original clips but will hold the saw in place if installed properly. The marketer states on it's product page that no tools are required to install the clips - that is not true. A nut and screw need to be removed from the old clips and reused on these. Screws and nuts are not provided. Also, it would be helpful if directions were provided. One redeeming thing that these clips have going for them - there are no moving parts (other than the clip itself pivoting on the screw). The OE clips have two springs and a couple of moving parts that break (quite easily). They also break easily. The Cawla composite replacement clips work perfectly with the DW7231 miter saw mounting brackets and they eliminate the annoying locking handle feature.
