The state boundary delineations are there, but it would’ve been better if the states were colored differently. I still like the globe and at least the countries are colored differently. **Q: Does it show all the US states?** A: I purchased it for my three youngest grandchildren to see where I am located presently in Asia. I do not know the answer to the question regarding the states of our union. However, I suspect not due to the size of the globe, and comparing it to the African Continent, it certainly does not reveal provinces in any of those nations. **Q: does it have to be plugged in?** A: Yes, it has to be plugged in and has a on off switch.
