Not easy to use at all. I returned it because it was not easy to use. I couldn't slip the yellow into the blue. **Q: how tall are the letters? Please, no guessing.** A: It’s very small, yum our better off getting the stamp the letters are thicker and nicer **Q: Do you have to put them in the holder? Or is there a spot to grip them and push in by hand?** A: You need the holder, but even using the holder it is difficult to slide the letters through. I tried to use it once didn’t work out well. Haven’t attempted to use it again. It’s trash **Q: anyone tried this with chocolate?** A: I haven't tried this with chocolate. These are very very small. I doubt it would work well at all. I would say I’m not happy with the little letter holder they provide, it’s hard to slide them in and the little nubs at the end of each letter once you take them off don’t fit in the slider unless you physically cut all of them off. So I individually pressed each letter into my cookies, which took a while. I would prefer for them to also be a little more deep, since my cookies were thick, I had to press down hard and it wasn’t easy to get them out afterwards.
