I bought these to train for and wear during a duathalon (biking and running). Bike shorts with a padded seat aren't good for running. Running shorts aren't good for biking because the short legs and loose fit will cause your "bits" to be exposed while pedaling (also causing resistance as they flap in the wind).These offer a great combo option. They're snug to the legs so no wind resistance while biking, which also keeps the nsfw parts from showing. They work well for running because they don't have the pad in the rear to rub uncomfortably as you run, like a normal bike short would.They are soft and very stretchy. Knowing how stretchy they are makes me think I should have gone a size down. I typically wear 32 or 33 pants so I ordered XXL. They fit well, but don't provide any real compression. Not a huge deal because I wasn't looking for compression so much as I was looking for a contoured fit, which they do. I think if I had ordered the XL instead they'd be a little snugger and provide some amount of compression, and still would have fit without being too tight.The phone pocket holds my Galaxy well. There is one on each side so you can carry it left/right side which is really nice since most things are made for right handed people. This little perk makes up for the two short comings. As you walk or run, the weight of the phone doesn't pull the shorts down and the phone doesn't try to slide out so the pockets are well done.Two short comings:These things are really high waisted. Although it seems like everything is. I can't stand pants all the way up to my belly button. This is absurd, why is this a thing now? This is easy enough to resolve by simply rolling the waistband a bit.The other issue is that the legs do slide up while riding. This may be a result of the sizing issue so a smaller size may not do that. Hard to say, but it happens. On the up side, even as the legs move up, they don't become bunchy or uncomfortable.In all, I'd say they're nice shorts, and work well for bike/run. It's a good option if you are doing a Duathalon, and maybe a Triathalon (but I haven't tested them for swimming).One more side note. I ordered a 3 pack, and my initial order came with a single pair. I requested an exchange and the seller promptly sent the correct item. I don't know if they'll try to say I didn't return the first item or not when they only get a single pair back, but that's all I got so it's all I could send. I also noticed when the new pack arrived it was in different packaging than the single set that was in a clear bag with a green label that said "ready to ship".
