Instructions don't specifically tell you to that, so I didn't the first time I used it, and had a soggy concentrated residue at the bottom of my watering can. Much better second time round after a good stir. I tried it first via a watering can which basically drowns the ants, then I used a garden spray and repeatedly sprayed the area/nest/ants with it 3 times per day for a few days until it had all gone. The ants die when it touches them, but obviously it does not get to the source of the problem.
