Combine it with some notes for high values and you can get a full on economy started, with players actually starting to think strategicly over their characters finances. It also allows you to shortchange players when they are dealing with a shifty merchant, slipping in a little bit of world building. Feel free to use that excuse yourselves DMs, it worked great for me.

Arrived in a nice plastic presentation box with a fabric drawstring bag to store them in. The coins have a nice feel to them, clinking solidly. We use them as currency in the excellent game Port Royale.
