It comes with batteries a pair of screws, and raw plugs.The unit.The unit its self comes in 2 parts - the wall attachment and the display unit. The wall attachment is screwed to the wall, and has the 2 wires connected to it.The connection is a plug in type, very straight forward using no screws to connect the wires. Once installed on the wall, the display unit pushes onto the wall attachment, using a series of pins to connect the pair. When removing the wall attachment initially, be careful not to bend these pins.Set up.I am used to the Mi home range, so knew what to expect here - the usual press the button, wait for the flashing to stop and off you go. However, while the pairing appeared to work first time, the temperature in the app did not update. After deleting and resetting ( removing batteries ), the second attempt worked properly.The difference being the units Antenna icon was illuminated on the second attempt, it did not display on the first.Installation.My original thermostat was an old ACL unit, which had 4 wires attached to it. After a bit of investigation on Google, it appears new digital thermostats do not need the blue wire, or the earth, just a common and connection to the boiler. I'd recommend doing your own research for this, or get an experts advice.Having taped over the 2 spare cables, and connected the required ones, drilled 2 holes in the wall and attached the base, the unit was installed.In use.The unit is designed to replace a wall based thermostat, it does not turn on or off the boiler, or the hot water. Multiple programs can be added to the unit to allow it to come on at certain times, and set a required temperature also. These however ( in my case ) require the timer on the boiler its self to be left on all the time.So when the unit is "off", the thermostat stops the heating from activating.A nice touch is the motion sensor - the unit only displays the temperature when it detects movement nearby, saving batteries.There is an icon on the display to indicate the unit is "on" and another showing when it has turned the heating on, this goes off when the required temperature is reached.There are a number of settings to adjust in the app - how quickly the unit responds, how close to the required temperature it runs, and an offset for the temperature in case you find the display is a degree out from a thermometer reading nearby.Alexa is happy to talk to it, you can ask the temperature, as well as turn the heating up or down.On the side of the unit there are 2 buttons for changing the required temperature, this is something the TRVs don't have, so you are forced to use the app to set them. This allows anyone to adjust the temperature, not just app users.OverallI really like the thermostat, it fills the gap between manual thermostats, and full house heating and water solutions like Nest.It has a solid well built feeling, responds to temperature changes as you'd expect, and was fairly straight forward to install. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent features at an brilliant price *by M***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 28 December 2018* I bought this as a direct replacement for my old manual thermostat when it broke.I am already committed to the Energenie products and this like the others is really very effective.The pros are the easy setup and use with the energenie hub. The hub is also a slight downside as it adds cost but does mean if your internet is out your thermostat will still work. Geofencing and program setup is great I occasionally forget to turn the heating down now that is managed by the timers and the system turns off if I am more than a mileFrom my home.The two key cons I am experiencing are that I keep getting told the connection has been lost to the thermostat and that it gets through batteries at a real speed.
