I am using a Honeywell Redlink for my personal preference but these relays would allow you to use Nest or Ecobee or Sensi If you desire. I added a 24vac transformer so I didn't need power from the furnace. It worked perfectly. I loved having the indicator light so I could use the smart thermostat app from the basement and watch the relay light go on and off. The DIN rail made it easy to mount the relay to joist.
