So I spent like $50 for this barbell. I only need to lift a couple of times a month to start out getting back into shape with proper recovery time so this already beats paying for the gym on a financial level. I don't have any use for the majority of what a gym provides: machines, bikes, paying employees/the gym rent/their insurance, a pool, etc. Each month I'll just add a few weights, and at sometime a bench press, and still save money overall compared to paying for the gym. I just do compound lifts. I'd love a squat rack and eventually I'll get one, but just using the weight of the bar and getting my technique down flawless is working out for me. Instead of the squat rack I use the lack of weight available to lift the bar over my shoulders from the ground.At the gym I'm always tempted to use more weight than I should because I've been quite jacked before, since I've nothing but the bar I don't have that temptation. Another benefit is I put hours between sets, this allows my ATP to recover fully. At the gym I hate standing around for 5-8 minutes for ATP recovery.I am seeing quick results from taking it very easy and letting the science from reading about the body be used. It's more fun to do things at home for me.The bar weighs 35 pounds, most bars I'm used to weigh 45.
