They are soft but none would offer the bristles to get in between teeth in my opinion. **Q: How can they justify $55 for this?** A: I found it very worth it! My grandson, lower spectrum, is helped tremendously by this. I would imagine the safety protocols and such to make it safe for children to use in their mouths adds to the cost as well.
