And it would cycle the heating element back on in about the same amount of time but once the shop was warmer the heating element was kicked off the 2nd time and on in about 7 minutes. This is the best heater I have ever had and I have had many high BTU heaters running off propane and kerosene and diesel fuels. this is total electric so no smell or hauling fuel. I wouldn't hesitate using this is a 40x40 shop it may take longer to heat up but once heated I don't think there would be a problem. **Q: Is the fan very loud? Could it be used in a large room while a meeting is taking place?** A: This is rather subjective. The fan is quieter than I expected but it still makes some noise.
