**Q: What is the main ingredient on this product?**
A: Pentafluoropropane

**Q: Is it sterile?**
A: This product is not sterile.  It is an over the counter topical anesthetic indicated to use like ice for:
- Muscle spasms
- Minor pain and swelling from sprains, strains, bruising and contusions
- Minor sports injuries.

**Q: What is the difference between this "instant ice" and  "ethyl  chloride, " (other than the obvious need for a rx for the ethyl chloride)?**
A: Great question. Ethyl Chloride is a different chemical that is Not in Instant Ice. While Ethyl Chloride will make the skin a little colder, it is Highly Flammable. Instant Ice is Non-flammable.

**Q: Will a doctor use this before they inject lidocaine?**
A: Some may but it depends on the doctor. I work in pediatric health care, and what we recommend prior to injections instead, is to apply a lidocaine cream where the injection site will be. You apply a dollop and then cover with a tegaderm or occlusive dressing. You can buy it over the counter. Aspercreme is one brand.
