I had some trouble getting the hose to seal properly as the hose clamps would sink into the soft plastic, and water would follow the spiral strengthening rib in the hose to leak. I solved this by putting a layer of tough rubber (old bike tire tread) under the hose clamp. After a year or two, the hose starts to yellow and degrade where it is exposed to sunlight.
