Smooth and transparent. Plenty of power for 99% of headphones. The only issue I had was with crackling in windows even with the SMSL drivers installed. They need to figure that out. Random crackling sounds on 2 different windows PC's. Other than that, this unit performed excellent in all regards. Hope they update the drivers soon for everyone. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Great detail but.... *by P***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2023* Coming from a Schiit Audio Gungnir DS version I sold it and bought the DO300ex based on the new AKM chipset 4499. The 300ex is a good dac with great detail, air, separation and bass slam but after a week my ears are hurting, and the overall sound doesn't seem natural to me. The unit lacks soul and emotion to me so I just returned it. I hope this helps your buying decisions. I'm still on the hunt for something new but in the interim my modi multibuilt OG works perfect for now.Happy Listening, ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great!!!! *by A***A on Reviewed in Canada on November 4, 2023* Great sound!Great looks!Easy to use! ## Frequently Bought Together - SMSL DO300EX HiFi DAC Headphone Amplifier, AK4499EX AK4191 Chip XU316 USB DAC, DSD512 PCM32Bit/768kHz Digital Audio Converter with 4.4mm/6.35mm Headphone Output (Black) - Fosi Audio V3 300W Class D Stereo Power Amplifier, TPA3255 Chip HiFi Audio Amplifier for Home Theater and Bookshelf Speakers, Compact Design with Advanced Heat Dissipation with 32V5A Power Supply - WiiM Ultra Music Streamer & Digital Preamp | 3.5" Touchscreen, Compatible with Google Cast & Alexa, Stream Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal & More | HDMI ARC, Phono Input & Headphone Output | Space Gray --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/579596824-aoshidasmsl-do300ex-hifi-dac-headphone-amplifier-ak4499ex-ak4191-chip-xmos](https://www.desertcart.us/products/579596824-aoshidasmsl-do300ex-hifi-dac-headphone-amplifier-ak4499ex-ak4191-chip-xmos) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-17*
