Is it hard? No. Is it daily and every single drip, splatter and spill- yes! And you need to remove the cast iron burner grates (just lift them out, but they are heavy and you need a clear counter to put them on) every time. The stainless around the burners scratches easily (do not use the back of a yellow/green sponge) so you really need to wipe everything down before it hardens or sets.
