A spoon was not able to break into it and the only way to get any out of the jar was by scraping it hard with a knife. The 3 stars was because once I managed to scrape enough to spread on my toast it tasted really really nice. Reading on the 'net about thinning honey suggested heating gently would do the trick- and it did. I placed the jar in a large jug and filled the jug with hot (not boiling) water. After a few hours and a few top-ups with more hot water the honey softened and became stirrable. Overnight I expected it would go solid again but this morning it was still soft and tasted very nice in my porridge. So- if you are prepared to spend a little tume to soften this honey you will not be disappointed.
