It looks like aluminum; blade is stainless steel.BTW, we have extremely strict quality and environmental standards and controls in Germany; far stricter than here. **Q: is this a single sharpener or 3-pack?** A: The single sharpener I bought (not the 2- or 3-pack) came with 2 spare blades attached to the side. **Q: Does this work for 2 mm pencil leads, or for standard sized graphite pencils with wood?** A: I use it for my Verithins,Marco Refines,and Polychromos colored pencils and it works very well.
