    Even Better Than I Expected

*by M***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2014*

When I ordered this case for my Fender Jazz bass, I expected it to be nicer than than the standard gig bag. It's even better than I expected. The quality of the stitching and materials reminds me of the nicest backpack, laptop case, or camera bag. The handle is thick - thicker than a rope. Maybe 2/3 as thick as the jazz bass near the headstock. It also has a nice big rivet on either side. It's definitely staying attached. With a normal gig bag, I'd be worried if I dropped it anywhere. Maybe it would keep some rain off. Maybe it would prevent it from getting scratched if I went by a bush, but my expectations are pretty low. This bag is different. There's something like an inch and a half of padding everywhere. If it fell to the ground when I was carrying it, I'd expect that my bass would probably be fine.I like this bag for more than just that though. It has a big pocket on the front. My 2" binder is tight, but it fits. I don't have to lug it around separately to my lesson, that's pretty nice.It also has a smaller pocket on the top of the case. There's room in there for pens or pencils and a clip for your keys. It's nice to have a smaller pocket where I don't lose things quite so easily. I put picks in there and a tuner. I'm sure more junk will find it's way in there eventually. Will I put this thing in the belly of an airplane with my beloved J bass? Probably not. But if there was ever a soft case that I would trust, it would probably be this one.I struggled with whether I should buy this bag. It's a lot of money! Now that I have it, I'm 100% satisfied. It's solid as a rock and I feel silly for having carried around a huge hard case for so long.

    Yep, it's worth it. But...

At this point I assume you're familiar with the specs so I'll go directly to my impressions...This Mono case is crazy expensive but after lots of research I decided that this is the case I wanted protecting my multi-thousand dollar basses. Now that I've been using it for several months I'm very happy with my decision. I have a couple of other gig bags that I've used in the past and they're okay for keeping my basses protected in my studio but when I'm leaving the house and putting my babies at risk I always go for the Mono.Pros:Protection. The ABS inserts, padding and other features seriously protect your investment.Neck block. As the name implies it holds the neck firmly and protects it from shock.Style. It looks cool. I've had quite a few double-takes and comments since I started carrying the Mono.Storage. While it's not got a huge volume (see below) it does have numerous pockets and straps to hold cords and accessories. NiceCons.Shoulder Straps. The straps on this case are of such a design and length that even at it's lowest settings the bass rides significantly higher on my shoulders than other cases. When I use the Mono I tend to bump into overhead light fixtures and door frames. I'm 6 foot 4 so this may not be an issue for you but I find it annoying.Storage. As noted above there are lots of pockets and straps but the total volume of storage is just a little less than I would like. If it had just a tad more I would be able to travel to and from gigs with no more than this bag. As it is I have to care another small bag for the few pedals that won't quite fit in the Mono.Price. It seems like you either pay 20 bucks for a crappy gig bag or a couple hundred for a nice one. There's really not much in between. This bag is nice but I don't know that it's ten times nicer than a standard bag.ConclusionNow the magic question - would I buy it again? Yes I would but I must say if somebody comes out with a $99 semi-solid bag Mono would have some competition.

    Finally, a great gig bag!

*by J***P on Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2013*

I have been searching for the perfect gig bag for my two OM size Martins for some time. Martin doesn't seem interested in making them and dreadnaught bags are too big. My problem is that some of the bags that manufacturers say fit the OM's just don't.The Mono bag not only fits, it is by far the highest quality gig bag I have ever used in 30+ years playing live. My fellow weekend warriors know a hard shell case can be a real pain in the butt for club gigs. The challenge is finding a gig bag that's light and still offers more than reasonable protection. The Mono bag does it. Storage is just okay but the design is so well thought out and executed that I found it worth the $200 price tag. If you want THE last gig bag you'll ever need then put the Mono on your list along with the Reunion Blues Continental. I shopped them both but picked the Mono.NOTE: Mono makes a nifty shaving kit sized accessory bag that fits snugly on the case for added storage. Very cool unit but I cannot understand how they can charge about a hundred bucks for such a small organizer. Come on guys, you say your products are by musicians for musicians, give us semi-professionals a break! It's half the price of a full-blown gig bag and 1/10th the size!Buy the Mono guitar/bass gig bags, they are top shelf!!
