It really does magnify the screen of the BMPCC (I can barely see the edges unless I'm in a certain position), and helps with seeing in bright environments. The only problem is the BMPCC doesn't really have a good screen (still hard to focus) Also, it fogs up when you wear a mask (which I mean fair enough, people didn't really wear mask back when the BMPCC was a thing). It's not really designed to stay on all the time (and sometimes randomly detaches from the frame but it's mostly been pretty durable when it falls - no damage so far) Compared to carrying a monitor around though, it's a lot lighter and more convenient. and the extras are quite thoughtful though I don't actually use them Review: Perfect companion for the BMPCC - This review is for the BMPCC specific version (desertcart seem to be grouping the BMPCC reviews with the standard 3" screen version). Works much better than I thought it would: not only does it make viewing the screen easier in outdoor conditions, it also makes the camera much more stable (because it now has three instead of two points of contact). In fact, using this loupe makes your camera more stable than does the Panasonic OIS! Further, the loupe can increase usable shoot time because you will use a much dimmer screen brightness. Finally, the loupe gives you a nice magnification, making focusing easier. For users who tend to shoot hand held, the loupe negates the need for a monitor, making your rig much smaller. If you will be shooting both hand held and on a stabiliser/tripod, the Loupe is very easy to attach and remove as neccessary (it is fitted to your camera magnetically, and simply snaps on/off). The only downside is that the loupe does not have a diopter adjustment, so if you do not have good eyesight it can be difficult to use. Oh, you also have to glue a magnetic frame to your camera. This is not much of a problem (the frame is very small and innocuous), but it does mean you have to stick the frame on properly - make sure there is no grease on your LCD before you attach the frame and all should be well. You get two frames, so if you have a main and backup camera, you should be able to use the loupe on both. No way should a formed bit of plastic with a glass (?) magnifier cost Β£70-90, particularly when considering a 7" LCD HDMI equipped screen, HDMI lead, psu, coldshoe ball joint and fabric hood can be sourced as an item on here for a near similar price. But as none of the Chinese suppliers have made their own version for the BMPCC and I needed to slim down my rig I ended up through gritted teeth purchasing one of these. Before someone suggests, I am aware of the Zacuto version but the cost is Β£70+ on top of this one and there was no way I was paying that! You would think at the cost it is, Kinotehnik may have paid for some quality control. Below is descriptions and pictures of what I've received... - Manufacturing mould removal marks on either side of the unit, these look like stress marks. I would assume from the piece being removed too quickly from the mould. - White dusk marks and pitted rubber on the eye cup from small bits of white plastic embedded in the rubber from manufacture. - The end which meets the LCD isn't cut square and it's deformed, this can be easily seen with the magnetic rim (this is perfectly square) which would normally be attached to LCD screen in place. In the pics I've sat it against the loupe and you can see how in the middle it rises (top and bottom) and the main body of the loupe does not fit properly exposing the magnets. This is absolutely rubbish and what I would have expected from one of Β£10 Chinese Canon/Nikon loupes that Amazon and eBay are flooded with. Also to note the LCDVF and Kinotehnik badges on the side are nothing more than rubbish paper printed stickers. The other versions of these for Canon/Nikon screens seem like the LCDVF logo is imposed into the plastic. Waste of time! I now need to arrange a return, wait in for the courier to collect and be out of pocket until it returns to the warehouse. Not impressed, thoroughly annoyed.
