It will reduce the distance if there are barriers in between. Our Z09 signal repeater (ASIN: B01M7TFXQ5) helps boost the signal range if the distance between the alarm host and detector is too long or obstacles exist. (2)Place the sensor transmitter (larger piece) on the non-moving part of the door or window frame, and the magnet on the moving portion of the door. For proper operation, there should be no more than a 1/2 inch gap between the transmitter and magnet when the door or window is closed.
