This train set is awesome. Its a bit temperamental to get on the track unless you have a wood or vinyl floor. Its not difficult but easily comes off its not perfectly level. I would also say once you fill the steam reservoir give the machine time to start steaming. Like maybe 3-5 min of run time. My daughter was ecstatic on christmas eve-seeing Santa dropped off a surprise early gift! Its also great to use as a prop for Elf on the Shelf!

Very sleek and sturdy, they are made with metal/tin rather than plastic. It has Moving arms/"mechanics", and functional cabin lights and headlight. You can make steam come out too! Definitely didn't come from a plastic mold.I will say this is best for ages 10+, the connecting pieces are fragile fish hooks. A small child may pick it up by the front train and break the plastic. They also warn that overfilling the water/steam tank may break the train!We only use ours as Christmas decor, but it's been pretty cool and enjoyable as a toy, even for two adults lol. It even comes with a remote to control the speeds, steam and horn. My husband had a blast assembling it!
