I have used these over & over for several years on camping trips. They are strong (for telescoping poles). With the rubber cap, they can be used in the center of tarps without puncture. They will support a lot of weight. I see a few reviews that show poles broken in half. These are hollow, light, telescoping poles. If substantial horizontal pressure is put on them - yes, at some point they will snap - like any other thin horizontal pole. They are not solid pipes and not intended to be. They will likely withstand forces that other similar telescoping poles will not. If you intend to use them fully extended in 20+ mile an hour winds at the beach or in the desert, then you can expect them to break. Its not a flaw. Get yourself some pipe or conduit if you need that kind of support; and/or add more guy lines. For supporting tarps & tents while camping and keeping sun or rain off of you, these work great and will last. The only problem I've ever had was the telescoping function 'sticking' after the poles become muddy/dirty. This is to be expected and is easily solved by cleaning with water. I should also mention that I've never had any problem with the telescoping sections 'slipping' at all.

Top notch, great tarp/tent poles. High quality & very versatile. I have used these over & over for several years on camping trips. They are strong (for telescoping poles). With the rubber cap, they can be used in the center of tarps without puncture. They will support a lot of weight. I see a few reviews that show poles broken in half.
