**Q: Where is the switch for the globe light?**
A: A switch on the power cord lights up the globe lamp.

**Q: What is the globe itself (not the stand) made of?--metal or plastic?**
A: Must be plastic, a magnet won't stick to it.  It's a hard plastic.  I was disappointed that the oceans are somewhat identified incorrectly.  The Atlantic should be North Atlantic and South Atlantic.  Same with the Pacific.  Over all it's a nice globe and well detailed.

**Q: How long is the power cord of the glowing globe?**
A: 58 inches/(147cm)

**Q: Does this need batteries?**
A: No, it just needs to be plugged in.
