It gives an extra layer of protection and safety when I am out and about. The fact that you can make real time video recordings or take still shots is a bonus especially if you need evidence when something happens (similar to having dashcam footage). I would advise also getting a rain cover to protect the software. I can play music direct from my phone and also take phone calls.
