## Description

The GE Household Water Pre-Filtration System connects to 3/4 in. plumbing to filter out sand, sediment and rust from all your household water. The pre-filtration system features a 3-position bypass valve to allow you to change the filter without turning off your water supply. I change the filter every three to four months, it is easy to use and removes lots of stuff. It is my second one in more than 12 years. My water is very soft and tastes great. It's good on my coffee pot too. I love it.

**Q: Does it come with a metal bracket for mounting?**
A: It comes supplied wit some screws and a small L shaped bracket.

**Q: Is this filter housing Bisphenol A (BPA) free?**
A: The NSF 42 Certification in the User Manual does not help to answer this question. "The NSF/ANSI 401 addresses the ability of a water treatment device to remove up to 15 individual contaminants..." BPA is one of those contaminants. https://www.nsf.org/services/by-industry/water-wastewater/residential-water-treatment/residential-drinking-water-treatment-standards

**Q: can you bypass the filter once it is installed?**
A: No. The filter should be installed after the main valve to the residence. If you want to bypass it, you have to add another valve.

**Q: Is there a way to know if the filter cartridge needs replacing by looking at the cartridge?**
A: I used this on a well system. The way i new to replace the filter was if the filter had turned a dark grey color. For my use, this was approximately once per month. An average 5 micron filter is all you need, typically.

Works great. I installed it myself but I used to do building maintenance, which made it easier. A person may need a plumber or handyman to install. The main water line needs to be cut and a section removed to install this. The connections all need to be watertight. When replacing the filter the top portion that the pipes connect to shouldn’t be moved too much or it could start leaking. A filter canister wrench is very helpful to remove and re-install the filter canister. The water in the house tastes much better is cleaner. When the filter needs replacing the filter is coated with rust particles so it filters a lot of things in the water that you can’t even see. I’ve installed these whole house filters in all the homes my family has lived in. It’s well worth its low price and lasts for years.
