Review: Great for Cycling! - I'm an amateur cyclist and as I gain more endurance and log more and more miles I suddenly have a need for better energy replenishment solutions during a ride. I usually carry a protein bar with me but that sits in my stomach and doesn't digest quite quickly enough. I have tried other brands, but found that the Clif Energy Shots, especially with a little caffeine, work the best. I prefer the ones with 25-50mg of caffeine as the caffeine seems to take effect almost immediately. This picks up the slack in the 10-15 minutes or so before your body starts using the carbs provided by the sugar. I don't like the idea of too much caffeine on a ride as I'm worried about it causing more adverse effects than good ones. The packaging is very convenient being both easy to open and in that it retains the tab so it doesn't end up on the side of the road. The last thing I'll comment on is the flavor. I've tried a few flavors and most were too sweet or didn't taste much like what they were labelled as. The citrus is easily the best I've had as it tastes exactly like key lime pie. I can't speak to other types of workouts, but for long days on a bike saddle, I would highly recommend these.
Review: They are great for managing low blood sugar ( hypoglycemia ) - I use these to assist with managing my type 1 insulin dependant diabetes. This product has litteraly changed my life. They are great for managing low blood sugar ( hypoglycemia ). The packaging is VERY durable and can be kept in a pocket for weeks without failing. The packaging is also very thin so I can keep 3 in one jeans pocket without any discomfort. The amount of carbohydrate that is contained is such a small amount of gel is awesome. The digestion of the carbs is faster then anything I've ever experienced, in my own experience it beginsto raise my blood sugar instantly. I do not experience any siggnificant drop off in blood sugar later on either, I think they specially formulated it so it lasts longer in your blood then most sweets. Way simpler then keeping bulky amounts of soft drinks or candies that can melt. Great for exercising too as it can fit easily in work out shorts. If you came looking because of diabetes GIVE IT A TRY! This Clif brand is much better tasting and the packaging is hands down better then the GU brand. I tried GU for a few months and the packaging bursts, the gel consistancy isn't very good, and the flavors are not enjoyable.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simple and Effective Energy Gel
*by A***R on November 18, 2017*

Really enjoyed these energy gels. I ordered these specifically for my running workouts. I wanted something simple and something that wouldn't upset my stomach before and while running. Regular pre workout drinks are too strong and would upset my system. The blend in these energy gels are just right. You get a little caffeine, some sugar, and potassium. Don't let the simple ingredient profile fool you. These always gave me a steady burst of energy and were awesome to consume mid workout to finish strong. I also really like the taste and actually look forward to consuming this while working out! Will be buying again for sure.
