Over the last year I've noticed a significant drop in performance with applications and games. When installing, make sure other storage drives are plugged into sata ports that won't be disabled when inserting a new SSD. Checking your motherboard's manual will let you know which sata ports will be unusable. Once that issue was sorted, I checked the BIOS, confirmed the SSD was recognised. Launched the PC, found the drive and partitioned it.
