It does not affect the performance of the device, at least has not in my usage **Q: Will this work in a usb hard drive enclosure without the adapter or tape?** A: I used it with a USB hard drive enclosure with power to transfer data from another drive. It transferred the data pretty quick. **Q: does it require SATA-molex adapter or pin mod for the power disable feature?** A: Yes, and the adapter is included in the box the drives are shipped in. **Q: Will this work with sata cables with 5 wires without the adapter?** A: I have 5 of these and they do not work on my corsair rm850e power supply. I also am not a fan of these adapters, so I used kapton tape to cover the 3rd pin and they work fine with the power supply now. ## Frequently Bought Together - HGST WD Ultrastar DC HC510 10TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 3.5" SED Hard Drive - HUH721010ALE601 (0F27605) (Renewed) - SABRENT USB 3.0 to SATA External Hard Drive Lay-Flat Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5in HDD, SSD [Support UASP] (EC-DFLT) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.us/products/560611179-hitachi-hgst-wd-ultrastar-dc-hc510-10tb-7200rpm-sata-6gb](https://www.desertcart.us/products/560611179-hitachi-hgst-wd-ultrastar-dc-hc510-10tb-7200rpm-sata-6gb) --- *Product available on Desertcart United States of America* *Store origin: US* *Last updated: 2026-10-31*
