I have had this rod for months and can't figure out how to use it

This must be the neatest and easiest curtain rod ever. My bathroom spans 118cm, so it's close to the pole's limit of 120cm, but it is firmly in place and quite secure. I can hang a couple of shirts to dry on hangers, as well as the curtain, and it still seems secure. I had it up in place 10 minutes after opening the package (which was a strong cardboard tube, so no risk of damage in transit). I had to pull quite hard to slide the rod out to the required length, but I suppose that's just the flip side of having a strong, secure spring. so satisfaction all round.
