I did change my socks towards the end of my day, only because my socks got damp from my feet sweating somewhat but I'm not gonna complain about that because that means my feet were warm. They go above the ankle so that took a little use to getting use to for my personally. I wore them a few times before the winter hit so I could get a feel for them. They're comfortable enough to work 10 hrs. Vegan friendly 😁. They were great really for my iceland/Greenland trip but I would use them instead of my other hiking boots that are more like a rough tennis shoe because these are more lightweight. I would not submerse them in water for a long time, but if it rains or you step in water, they are water proof. Glad I bought them. **Q: Are these boots vegan?** A: No fur inside of the boot just cotton **Q: I wear a size 8, and I don't have wide feet or big calves or anything. Should I order my true size, or size up?** A: If I were you I would try 8 1/2 just because they do fit very snugly. I don't think that would be too big while giving you a little wiggle room. I range in sizes depending on the brand between 8, 8 1/2, and 9. I bought the 9, cause I do have problems with one foot being slightly larger. The show is made in high quality and I was impressed. I ordered 1/2 (1) size up as recommended. I had a hard time getting it on my foot. I have arthritis in my hands and was unable to put it on without loosing the whole shoestring from bottom to top and pull it on my foot, just to tighten the shoestring's again and I had to pull hard so they were tight. Unfortunately the shoe was so high up in the front that it bothered me very much if I made a step forward. There is NO way I could hike in them for a few hours without getting shin split or blisters. I guess High shoes like that are not meant for me.
