Engineered bamboo is quite attractive and sturdy enough, though sensibly they manufacturers have opted for a veneer over MDF for the seat plank to add strength. The shelving height is adequate for shoes though only the double-height part can accommodate mid-height boots or anything taller. As other reviewers have noted, the cushion slithers about and needs to be stuck-down in some way - I used some double-sided tape I had lying around.Easy enough to assemble if you pay attention but my unit arrived without two pieces needed for the second drawer. The sellers were very responsive and helpful and offered a choice of a part refund or a replacement unit (which I accepted).
